George W. Bush Shares a Tender Moment with Grandson Named After His Great-Grandfathers

Now 78, the former US president boldly posted on social media the birth of his new grandson.

Bush posted a touching picture on Instagram on Tuesday, August 6, honoring his daughter Barbara Pierce Bush and her husband Craig Coyne on the birth of their second child.

Just a few days ago, the couple—who also had a 2-year-old daughter called Cora Georgia—waved their son, Edward Finn, into the world.

Barbara and Craig are seen in the poignant picture cuddling their newborn son in a hospital bed, their faces shining with delight as they tenderly view their baby boy. Born on August 4 and lovingly named in honor of his great-grandfathers, “Welcome to the world, Edward Finn Coyne @laurawbush and I are proud grandparents of our newest blessing,” Bush wrote in his caption. “Congratulations to Cora Georgia, big sister, Barbara, Craig.”

On Monday, August 5, Barbara’s twin sister Jenna Bush Hager initially broke the joyous news. Co-anchor on the Today show Jenna went to Instagram to share her delight at being an aunt once more.

Jenna, 42, captioned a set of pictures that caught the unique events surrounding Edward’s birth, “My sissy had a little mister and I fell madly in love with Edward Finn!” Jenna is shown nursing her young nephew in one of the images, and another shows Barbara carrying Edward as Jenna observes with respect. Edward is calmly sleeping in his mother’s arms in a third picture taken in the museum.

Though Jenna did not go into more specifics on the birth of her nephew, the pictures capture the happiness of the family. Specifically, Edward was seen sporting an NYU Langone Health cap, which Today.com notes that Barbara might have given birth at the esteemed New York City hospital.

George W. Bush and his wife Laura have expressed their delight about becoming grandparents before now. The former president and first lady sent a joint statement announcing the joyful news when Cora, the daughter of Barbara and Craig, was born.

“With hearts full of passion, @laurawbush and I are happy to say our little granddaughter has born. In Maine, not far from our family house where Barbara and Craig were married, Barbara delivered Cora Georgia Coyne on September 27, 2021. In October 2021, they posted. “We are proud and thankful; Cora is beautiful and healthy.”

What a lovely addition to the Bush family!
